We've got morning and evening trips to fit your schedule, so gather up to 6 of your favorite fishing buddies and let's hit the lake!
Here's the deal: we'll cruise out onto Lake Michigan's prime fishing grounds, where the big ones are biting. You'll be aboard the Black Pearl, a top-notch fishing vessel with a cozy cabin to keep you comfortable no matter the weather. Captain Patrick knows these waters like the back of his hand, so you're in for some serious action. Just remember to snag your Wisconsin fishing license and Great Lakes stamp if you're over 15, and we'll take care of the rest. Oh, and if you're not a morning person, think again – our 4 AM trips are when the fish are hungriest and the catch rates are off the charts!
We're not messing around when it comes to catching fish. We use a technique called trolling, which means we'll be dragging lines behind the boat as we cruise along. Captain Patrick will set up a spread of rods with various lures and depths to target different species. You'll learn to watch for the telltale "pop" of the rod tip when a fish strikes. When that happens, it's game on! We'll show you how to fight the fish, bring it to the boat, and maybe even how to fillet your catch if you want to take some home for dinner. Don't worry if you're new to this – we'll walk you through everything step by step.

Lake Michigan is teeming with some of the most sought-after freshwater game fish out there. Let's break down what you might be tangling with:
Rainbow Trout (Steelhead): These acrobatic fighters are a blast to catch. They'll leap clear out of the water when hooked, giving you a real show. Steelhead average 5-10 pounds but can get much bigger. They're most active in spring and fall, but we catch them year-round.
Coho Salmon: Often called "silver salmon," these feisty fish are known for their hard strikes and blistering runs. They typically weigh 2-5 pounds and are at their peak from July to September. Coho are a favorite for their delicious, orange-pink flesh.
Chinook Salmon (King Salmon): The big daddy of Great Lakes salmon, Chinooks can top 30 pounds! These bruisers will test your strength and endurance. Prime time for Kings is August through September, but we target them all summer long. Landing one of these is a true trophy.
Brown Trout: Crafty and hard-fighting, browns are prized for their beautiful spotted patterns. They average 3-10 pounds but can grow much larger. Spring and fall are peak seasons, but we catch them year-round, especially near shore.
Lake Trout: These deep-water natives are the marathoners of the lake. They fight long and hard, often making multiple runs. "Lakers" can live for decades and grow to massive sizes – 20-pounders aren't uncommon! We target them year-round, especially in cooler months when they come closer to the surface.
Look, there's nothing like the rush of a big salmon or trout peeling line off your reel. Whether you're out to fill the freezer, looking for a trophy photo, or just want to enjoy a day on the water with friends and family, our Lake Michigan charter has you covered. Captain Patrick and the Black Pearl are ready to put you on the fish and create some lasting memories. So what are you waiting for? The fish are biting, and your spot on the boat is waiting. Give us a call or book online – let's go catch some Lake Michigan monsters!

We had a great day yesterday and the evening before. Caught our limit of Lake Trout out of St. Joseph’s and caught 8 Kings and 8 Coho out of Holland. Mark and Kyle were great and seemed like friends to us all within minutes. Highly recommend you give Mark a call.

Brown trout in Lake Michigan typically run 2-10 pounds, with some real giants possible. They like cooler water and often hang near shore structures or drop-offs. Spring and fall are great seasons to target them. Browns are known for being clever and challenging to catch, which makes landing one extra rewarding. They're also excellent table fare. Try trolling or casting with minnow-imitating lures, especially in low light conditions. Fly anglers can have success with streamers. Local secret: after a good rain, fish near stream mouths where browns gather to feed on baitfish washed out into the lake.
Chinook salmon, or "kings," are the heavyweight champs of Lake Michigan. These bruisers commonly hit 15-30 pounds. They prefer cold, deep water but come shallower to feed. Fall is prime time as they stage for spawning runs. Chinooks are prized for their hard-fighting ability - expect long, powerful runs that'll test your gear and skills. Their rich, flavorful meat is considered top-notch eating. Trolling with downriggers is the go-to method, using large spoons or cut bait. Early morning and dusk are often most productive. Here's an insider tip: keep an eye on your sonar for bait balls, as kings are often lurking nearby.
Coho salmon are hard-fighting fish that'll test your skills. They average 8-12 pounds but can push 20+. Look for them in cooler, deeper waters during summer, moving shallower in spring and fall. Cohos are known for their sudden, powerful runs and acrobatic jumps. Their orange-red meat is prized for its rich flavor. Early morning or evening are ideal times to target them. Trolling with downriggers is effective - try flashy spoons or plugs that mimic baitfish. If you're spin casting, bright-colored crankbaits work well. Pro tip: when a school is feeding, cast beyond the commotion and retrieve through it for best results.
Lake trout are the true natives of Lake Michigan, often weighing 10-20 pounds. They prefer deep, cold water, so you'll usually find them near the bottom in summer. Spring and fall, when water temperatures are more uniform, can be easier times to target them. Lakers are prized for their fight - expect strong, steady pulls rather than acrobatic leaps. Their rich, oily meat is great smoked. Jigging with large soft plastics or blade baits is effective. Trolling with downriggers also works well. Here's a pro tip: use your electronics to find schools of baitfish near the bottom - that's where you'll often find big lakers lurking.
Rainbow trout are a favorite on Lake Michigan, usually running 2-8 pounds. You'll find them in cooler waters, often near drop-offs or underwater structures. Spring and fall are prime seasons when they're closer to the surface. These beauties put up an acrobatic fight, leaping and thrashing when hooked. Their pink flesh makes for great eating too. Rainbow trout love flashy lures, so try small spoons or spinners in silver or gold. For fly fishing, nymphs and streamers work well. Here's a local tip: on calm days, look for rising fish and cast dry flies to them. It's a blast watching them come up and strike your fly on the surface.
